SCGMA YPG Event Recap – Merit Aluminum Tour

On Friday, September 9th, the SCGMA Young Professionals Group held their third quarterly event of 2022 – a tour of Merit Aluminum. Several YPG members from various SCGMA contractor businesses joined to learn more about finishing extruders – how they’re made, what they’re made of, the options available, and so on.

We kicked off the event with an educational presentation from Matthew Zundel regarding the extrusion making processes, giving the attendees a preview of what they would see during the actual tour of the facilities. The facilities showcased the fully automated extrusion making process, the innovative die designs that allow for on time performance, the anodization, proprietary powder formulas and coating processes, and other operations.

SCGMA YPG is dedicated to educating its future leaders. This investment in the next generation of glazing leaders is critical to our industry and we are so grateful to Evan Rapport, Matthew Zundel, and the rest of the Merit Aluminum team, for their time and hospitality during this valuable event.
